Housing Counseling Program
LEDC is a HUD-certified housing counseling agency that helps families in the DMV area to buy their first home and save their homes from foreclosure. LEDC accomplishes these goals by providing group education and individual counseling in areas such as pre-purchase, financial capability, rental, post-purchase and foreclosure prevention.
The Housing Education Coordinator supports the Housing Counseling Program by providing administrative, outreach, and training services in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. Reporting to the Housing Education and Financial Empowerment Manager, the Coordinator will help design, implement, and expand housing counseling services in the region.
Please note: this position will report to our White Oak location but may be required to travel to other sites/offices as needed.
The Housing Education Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Program Coordination and Quality Control
- Coordination, scheduling and quality control of the in-person and virtual housing education activities in all markets - the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia
Workshop Facilitation and Curriculum Development
- Conduct in-person and virtual group workshops and presentations on home purchase, foreclosure prevention, post-purchase, and financial capability in all markets
- Develop, update and oversee curriculum for in-person and virtual courses
Community Outreach and Engagement
- Maintain and create external relationships with community stakeholders
- Conduct community outreach for housing counseling services. This includes outreach to community partners
- Provide information on LEDC services and referrals to community partners
- Increase awareness of LEDC’s services in the community by participating in virtual and in-person outreach events
Administrative and Operational Support
- Assist with administrative, operational, and technical responsibilities
- Document and track data related to housing counseling services utilizing Counselor Max and other applicable tools. Provide data quality control
- Assist with special projects as assigned and other tasks deemed necessary to achieve overall goals and operate a successful housing counseling program
- Responsible for supporting the manager for preparing and submitting timely reports to funders on program specific housing education and counseling activities
- Assist walk-ins as needed
- Provide technical assistance related to housing counseling such as documenting attendees' participation in classes, creating certificates, tracking paperwork for first-time homebuyer programs or foreclosure prevention
- Attend trainings to obtain required certifications
- Other duties as assigned to ensure quantity and quality of services provided by the agency
- Up to 25% travel may be required
Minimum Qualifications
- Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken, written, and reading)
- Strong writing skills in Spanish and English
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience with Adult Education methods and techniques
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to relate to people from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds, formal education levels, cultures, etc.
- A customer-service-oriented person with good people skills
- Comfortable with public speaking and group facilitation
- Must have a friendly, patient, and professional demeanor; able to communicate effectively to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Energetic and detail-oriented team player with a commitment to high-quality service delivery
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Google Suites, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other relevant software/programs
- Familiarity with databases and information tracking
- Reliable transportation is needed
- Flexible work schedule, including the ability to work Saturdays and evenings
- Able to pass the National HUD Certification Exam within 90 days of employment
- Obtain and keep NCHEC certifications in the housing counseling disciplines.
This role is full-time, typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week, and requires Saturday hours and some evenings as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $56,388 - $64,908 annually, dependent on experience and team budget.
